10 Fair trade principles of the World Fair Trade Organization

What Fair Trade really means at paigh

Our products are created in close collaboration with partners who adhere to the 10 principles of the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization). These principles form the basis of true fair trade—and thus also of every decision we make at paigh.

Here we show you what lies behind these principles – and how they are lived at paigh.

1. Creating opportunities for disadvantaged producers

Fair trade begins where people have little access to stable jobs. Our partner manufacturers offer precisely these people – especially women and smaller family businesses – fair and long-term prospects.

2. Transparency and accountability

We value open communication, fair contracts, and honest partnerships. Our production processes are transparent – from the first contact to the finished garment.

3. Fair trade practices

Our partners receive fair prices, realistic schedules, and planning security – without exploitation or pressure. We focus on reliability rather than short-term margins.

4. Paying fair prices

A fair price means more than minimum wage. Our partners can live off it, invest, and pay their employees fairly – for a dignified life with a future.

5. No exploitative child or forced labor

Our products are manufactured exclusively in factories that are firmly opposed to any form of child or forced labor. This is non-negotiable.

6. Commitment to non-discrimination, equality and the advancement of women

Everyone deserves equal opportunities – regardless of gender, origin, or religion. Equality and inclusion are firmly embedded in the work of our partners.

7. Guarantee good working conditions

Fair fashion requires fair workplaces. Our partners ensure safe, clean, and humane conditions – including breaks, protective measures, and health care.

8. Promote capacity building

We think long-term. That's why we support the development of knowledge, structures, and stability – together with our local partners.

9. Promoting Fair Trade

We and our partners are actively committed to the values of fair trade – through education, transparency, and honest storytelling.

10. Respect for the environment

Fair trade includes respectful treatment of nature. Our partners prioritize environmentally friendly production processes, natural materials, and resource-efficient work practices.
