Crunchy granola with nuts and fruits
Today I'm introducing you to a pretty simple but also super delicious granola recipe.
Granola is basically nothing more than a crunchy muesli. Because it is roasted in the oven, it gets its typical crunchy texture and this is how some of the flavors really come into their own.
Every time I look for muesli, I notice the amount of added sugar that most ready-made mueslis contain. Because none of these products have completely convinced me so far, I thought that I could simply create my own muesli - according to my personal taste, as a crunchy muesli.
This resulted in this granola recipe, which can of course be adapted or expanded as desired. You can throw your favorite ingredients together as you wish and create a unique creation every time. The great thing about it is that you always know exactly what's in it. Furthermore, it is probably one of the simplest recipes imaginable.
In this granola recipe I mixed various nuts, berries and seeds with cinnamon. It gets its crispy texture from the added coconut oil. The crunchy muesli refines any smoothie bowls, yoghurts and desserts and provides that certain crunch. The mix of sweet fruits and nutty flavors creates a very special taste that you can't get enough of.
Ingredients
I deliberately avoid giving exact quantities because I think it makes most sense to dose according to your own taste - then it will definitely taste best
Oat flakes
Pecans
Hazelnuts
Chia and/or flaxseeds
Pumpkin seeds
Salt
Cinnamon
Coconut oil
Honey / Agave syrup
Goji berries, mulberries and/or cranberries
Coconut flakes
Tools: oven, baking tray, baking paper, sharp knife, cutting board
preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Place the baking paper on the baking tray and sprinkle oatmeal on the paper. The oat flakes form the base of our granola, which is why all of the paper should be covered.
- Chop the pecans and hazelnuts into small pieces and then sprinkle them on the tray along with the linseeds and pumpkin seeds. Although I'm not the biggest hazelnut fan myself, I consider them an important component here because they develop a very special aroma when baking. The pumpkin seeds add a pleasant spice.
- Sprinkle one or two pinches of salt and then cinnamon over the baking tray.
- Mix the ingredients together, add agave syrup (or honey) and coconut oil and mix everything well a second time. It's best to mix the mixture with your hands, especially if the coconut oil is still solid.
- Then bake the muesli mixture on the middle rack for about 10-15 minutes, until not only does your apartment smell wonderful, but the mixture also turns a light brown. However, since the granola can burn quickly if it stays in the oven for too long, it's best to check from time to time to see how your crunchy muesli is doing.
- Finally, let the baking tray cool and then add the granola, mulberries, gojiberries and cranberries to the granola. It is important that these components are not baked as they would burn in no time.
- Add the granola to your yogurt or smoothie and enjoy. Or just snack on its own!
Preparation time: approx. 20 minutes
Have fun trying it out!
