    Three tips that help you to switch to vegan diet

    Switching to a new diet or establishing new eating habits isn't always easy – and it doesn't really matter which diet you're switching to. But especially when it comes to switching to a vegan diet, many people often have serious doubts: Will I be able to avoid animal products? Where do I start? Will I even be able to eat out? Will I feel full?

    These are all legitimate questions that arise when you consider switching to a vegan diet. But "big" doesn't necessarily mean "difficult." Almost everyone I know who eats vegan has said at some point in their lives, "Vegan? I could NEVER do that!" And when they started eating vegan—for whatever reason—all those doubts vanished pretty quickly...

    Today I would like to share with you three basic tips that will make it easier for you to switch to a vegan diet.

    1. What is your “WHY”?

    It is one thing to know How vegan diet works. It is a completely different matter to know Why You've decided to go vegan. Because if you're hungry and exhausted after a long day at work and you stop at a fast-food restaurant in the evening to order a pizza or a kebab, knowing how to eat vegan won't help you. In such a situation, you have to remember why you ever decided to forgo delicious things like cheese or meat. Your WHY is your most powerful tool and one of the most important when it comes to implementing and sticking to a vegan diet. So ask yourself: Why do I want to eat vegan? Listen deeply to yourself.

    Your motivation is even stronger when it truly comes from within, not from outside. Because everything we want to achieve (be it losing weight, writing a book, or changing our diet) is most likely to become tangible and reality when our motivations are intrinsic. When we know WHY and WHAT FOR we are doing something, rather than just doing it because others want us to, because everyone else seems to be doing it, or because we're seeking recognition.

    Examples of your WHY

    Perhaps you want to go vegan because cow's milk is meant for calves, not humans. Or because you no longer want to support the conditions under which animals like cows, chickens, or pigs have to live their lives, and the cruel way they are killed – just so that spicy protein can end up on our plates. Perhaps your motivation for going vegan is to do something good for the climate and the environment, to secure the lives of your children and grandchildren, and to work with nature instead of against it. It could also be that your motivation is to eat a healthy, plant-based diet to reap the numerous health benefits of a vegan diet. z.Bto prevent degenerative diseases.

    2. Discover your possibilities!

    The idea that you can’t eat anything else on a vegan diet is unfortunately widespread.The good news is that this is absolutely not true. Of course, when you switch from a diet heavily reliant on animal products to a vegan diet, you'll initially lose many familiar foods. If you switch from vegetarian to vegan, there are fewer things you'll have to give up.
    Fortunately, thanks to the growing popularity of vegan nutrition, there are more and more diverse sources available. More and more restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets are increasingly offering vegan products and dishes. Bookstores are brimming with vegan cookbooks. There are also countless Instagram and YouTube accounts and blogs that provide you with endless vegan recipes, ideas, and inspiration. You can also find some on our blog. Articles and recipes on veganism.

    Substitute products such as soy strips or vegan wheat-based schnitzels are not always great, but they are a great alternative to animal-based food, especially in the beginning.

    Another piece of good news is this: Almost any of your favorite recipes can be veganized without much effort! For example, you can use vegan butter, easily make an egg substitute from flaxseed and water, or conjure up a delicious "cheese" sauce with nutritional yeast. Don't let your worries about not being able to eat your favorite dishes stop you.

    I'm sure you'll soon be enchanted by the colorful diversity of vegan cuisine. And as a nice side effect, many new vegans will connect more with natural foods and automatically eat healthier. You won't even miss the taste of meat or dairy anymore. .

    3. Have fun!

    This point is very important to me. Change is often initially associated with uncertainty and overwhelm. That's completely normal, and no one expects you to become the ideal world-saving vegan overnight. Wherever you start, take one step at a time. Change takes time, after all. But your knowledge and skills will increase much faster than you think. Soon, the things you struggle with today will become easier for you.

    A vegan diet is a vegan diet, but it's still diverse and complex. Each of us lives a different life under different circumstances. It's great of you if, for example, you'd like to start eating only fresh, local, unprocessed, and organically grown foods for the sake of the environment. But it's perfectly legitimate and understandable to say that perhaps it's better to take things slowly. Not everything can be implemented and achieved immediately, and as I said: Change takes time. So please don't put pressure on yourself when switching to a vegan diet!

    It's not just your diet that will change. You'll most likely also feel changes in your mind and body. Most people who switch to veganism notice after just a short time that they feel more energetic, lighter, and more balanced. That alone makes adopting a vegan diet worthwhile, right?

    But, as I said: When switching to a vegan diet, you're on your own individual journey, and the most important thing is to enjoy it. And if it gets difficult at times, remember your why and don't put so much pressure on yourself. Approach it with the curiosity of a small child!

    Als Partnerin eines Familienmitglieds, welches unter einer starken Glutenunverträglichkeit leidet, kann ich mir im Moment nicht vorstellen auf eine rein Veganer Ernährung umzusteigen. Leider enthalten sehr viele vegetarische und Veganer Lebensmittel Weizen und andere Getreideanteile und sind somit für uns tabu.
