Probably the easiest way to get away ...
...is gratitude! Find out why being grateful makes you happy and how to practice gratitude in this blog post!
What does gratitude bring me?
Gratitude is one of the key pillars of happiness. It allows us to acknowledge everything we already have and everything that is already in our lives, rather than focusing solely on what we would like to have or what we still lack.
Gratitude helps us realign our focus and adopt a different perspective. Our mood improves instantly, and the problems we think we have suddenly don't seem so bad or insurmountable anymore. We can do all sorts of things – No matter how big or small, acknowledge it. Whether it's being able to see, walk, feel the sun on your skin, have nice clothes, or have friends who support you.
Over time, many things become second nature to us because we're no longer used to anything else. But our lives are full of privileges and opportunities. And we should simply remind ourselves of that more often. Because we all have so much to be grateful for!
Being grateful, however, doesn't mean having to be content with everything. It doesn't mean stopping fighting for something or striving for something because you think, "I already have so much; who am I to ask for more?" It's simply about acknowledging everything you have and remembering what an incredible life you're blessed to live. So, no false modesty!
How do you practice gratitude?
There are different types of gratitude practices. Simply recalling things you're grateful for is essentially a gratitude practice. But there are also more in-depth exercises:
- Many people are putting Gratitude journal In which they write down three things they are grateful for each day. This works especially well in the morning when preparing for the day, or in the evening when reflecting on the past day.
- Another exercise in which you can use gratitude beautifully is during an argument, in a problem situation or when you're in a bad mood. When I'm in such a situation, I try to find something to be grateful for (assuming I can think reasonably clearly). ). This quickly calms me down and helps me to detach myself from my ego and not approach the matter so subjectively. Of course, this doesn't necessarily change the situation itself. But it does change how to react to the situationBecause that is always within the realm of possibility.
- Gratitude can also be wonderful with family or friends Practice. Whether it's breakfast with your partner, playing with the kids, or at your next girls' night out – sharing what you're currently grateful for is enriching for everyone in the room. And sometimes it reminds you of things you can be incredibly grateful for, but wouldn't have immediately thought of.
- Finally, gratitude can also be wonderfully integrated into meditation There are now numerous guided Gratitude meditations, and I will present one of them to you in this Blog post.
The great thing about it is that you can easily adapt gratitude meditations to suit your individual needs. For example, if you are already meditating, you can keep your eyes closed for a few more moments after you have finished meditating and then mentally list three things for which you are grateful at the moment.
I love gratitude exercises because you can do them anytime, anywhere, completely individually. Whatever comes to mind, there's no right or wrong; and no matter how "small" or "insignificant" something may seem to others, sometimes it makes you incredibly happy to be incredibly grateful for it and to appreciate it.
