Monthly Challenge: Plastic-free Fridays
May is coming to an end, and I thought it would be interesting to start a little challenge with the start of the new month. In four weeks, I'll share the results of my challenge with you, of course. If you'd like to know more or are interested in taking part in the challenge, please read on. I'd love for us to tackle this together! ☺️
What's it about?
Sustainability is very important to me. However, I still can't manage to live a completely zero-waste lifestyle or make my everyday life consistently sustainable. Once you start thinking about the topic, you realize how many areas of life could and should be optimized for sustainability!
Unfortunately, not everything can be changed overnight. At the beginning of what I call my "sustainability journey," I often felt bad because I realized how many areas I was not acting in an environmentally conscious manner. However, I have now accepted that this is a long process. Every day, I learn more and get a tiny bit closer to my goal. I know that I still have a long way to go. And that's okay. Anyone who even a little bit Becoming more conscious of one's daily habits and being willing to change them (to whatever extent) contributes to the health of our planet. And of course, how well one can implement a sustainable lifestyle always depends on external circumstances. Nevertheless, we shouldn't let that stop us.
I've talked about the plastic problem and the zero-waste lifestyle several times on this blog. Here are some related posts:

Plastic-free Fridays: The implementation
In my everyday life, I already try to avoid single-use products as much as possible. I also make sure to buy unpackaged (or non-plastic-wrapped) food whenever possible. And yet, I'm always surprised at how quickly the yellow bin fills up again. So I thought it would be cool to set myself a little challenge. From now on, no plastic will be used on Fridays. When I think about which products I'm "allowed" to no longer use, the first things that come to mind are plastic-wrapped food, plastic bottles, and plastic bags. Okay, that's doable. But what about Tupperware, clothing with plastic content, and my headphones? My other electronic devices also contain a fair amount of plastic. So, am I forced to do a digital detox at the same time? :D Unfortunately, I can't afford that, because I need my cell phone, laptop, and headphones for work. So, I'll make an exception for those devices.
Phew, only when I really think about it do I realize how many everyday items contain plastic. But that's exactly what it's all about: thinking about what plastic is used for.In some areas, it's still difficult to replace plastic, as it's such a popular material, especially in industry, for a reason. The primary goal of Plastic-Free Fridays is to avoid single-use plastic. Everything else is a bonus...
I'm really excited to see what comes out of this and whether my perspective on plastic will change once again. I'm trying to document my Plastic-Free Fridays as best I can and keep a diary of sorts. After four weeks, I'd like to share my impressions with you on this blog.
Let's do this together!
I would, of course, be incredibly happy if you would join in. Or perhaps you've already completed this or a similar challenge? Then feel free to tell me about it in the comments below this article!
Maybe I can convince the rest of my family or friends to take on this challenge. Because in the end, we can only benefit from it, right? And our planet, too. ☺️
